Facilities & Activities

While our campsite offers the perfect base for exploring the surrounding area, there’s also plenty to enjoy right here onsite for the whole family. Whether you’re hiking to the viewpoint, kayaking along the river, or simply relaxing on the beach with the gentle sound of the weir in the background, it’s easy to immerse yourself in nature without ever leaving the campsite.

Shop

Our reception is located right next to the Private Ablution block and we also have a small shop where only the essentials can be purchased. Please note that the shop will only be open for limited hours throughout the day.

Essentials available for cash purchases on site: Braai Wood, Ice, 5L Drinking Water etc.

Tip: Braai wood and ice can also be purchased as an add-on when making your booking. It will then be delivered to your campsite after check-in.

Lapa

Have a special event/celebration during your stay? Book out our Lapa. The Lapa has a big braai (big enough for a spit), small kitchen area with warm water and a fridge and freezer and limited seating. It’s perfect for events and group winter camping as it provides the perfect shelter for everyone when it rains.

Please contact us if you would like to book our Lapa along with your booking or for a special event.

Ben’s Beach

One of the unexpected perks of recent floods is the creation of Ben’s Beach—named after our resident 5-year-old. Easily accessible from the Riverfront stands, this spot offers a generous patch of shade and a front-row seat to the weir.

While it’s not large enough for a game of beach cricket or soccer, there’s plenty of space for a laid-back beach day. With the sound of water and the sky lighting up at sunset, Ben’s Beach is the perfect place to unwind, catch your breath, or stay up late watching the stars come out.

Viewpoint Trail

Need to stretch your legs or enjoy a morning coffee stroll? The 1.6 km Viewpoint Trail is the perfect short hike to get moving and take in the surroundings. The trail winds gently up to a scenic lookout and loops back down – just enough to wake you up without breaking too much of a sweat.

Keep your eyes peeled along the way – you might spot some of the reserve’s roaming wildlife, and if you’re lucky, catch a glimpse of the rare and beautiful Overberg Renosterveld, one of the most endangered plant habitats in the world.

Kayak/SUP Rental

One of the best ways to explore and observe the Breede River ecosystem, is to go for a paddle up the river. We have about 2km of river up to the ‘Rooibrug’ rapid.

Bring your own or rent one of our single/double kayaks or Stand Up Paddle (SUP) boards from reception.

Wildlife

Our farm is primarily a lifestyle estate, and much of the land has been carefully preserved in its natural state. Thanks to our proximity to Bontebok National Park, we enjoy a rich variety of local wildlife and birdlife right on our doorstep.

Keep an eye out for tortoises, dassies, otters, antelope, and a wide array of native flora. Birdwatchers will be especially delighted by the impressive variety of birdlife. Three special residents you’re likely to meet are Phoenix, Zuka and Hendrik, our friendly springboks—tame, curious, and often seen wandering the reserve.

Please drive slowly when entering the property and stay alert for wildlife, resident pets, ducks, and children.

Fishing

The Breede River is known for excellent angling all year round. Bring your fishing kayak of make use of our two dedicated fishing areas. You’ll come across the following types of freshwater fish on the Breede River: Catfish, Carp, Barbel, Smallmouth Bass and Bigmouth Bass.

Please ensure you adhere to local laws regarding Fishing Permits. For more info, click here.

Wi-Fi

While we encourage guests to unplug and enjoy the natural surroundings, we understand that sometimes you need to check in—or find an office with a view. That’s why we offer limited free Wi-Fi, accessible throughout the campsite. To help keep the connection steady for everyone, streaming is restricted.

Cell reception is generally reliable, though 4G/5G data can be spotty depending on your provider. For the best chance at stronger signal, our Terrace View stands tend to offer better connectivity.

Coming Soon

While the river remains the go-to spot for adventure and burning off energy, we know how important it is to have a safe, dedicated space just for kids. That’s why we’re excited to share that a new children’s recreational area is in the works for later this year.

Plans include a jungle gym, trampoline, and possibly even a bike track—perfect for keeping young explorers entertained while parents relax nearby. Keep an eye on our website for updates and launch dates!
