Meet the Family Behind the Reserve

Falcon River Reserve is a family-run adventure, proudly owned and managed by Izak and Ilse-Belle Louw – with a little help from their six-year-old son, Ben, who takes charge of Beach and Playground Operations.

Izak, originally from Calvinia, is our go-to guy for building, fixing, designing, and making pretty much anything. He grew up on a Karoo farm, became a mechanical engineer, and spent 2 decades with a top Cape Town engineering firm before swapping the city life (and traffic) for river views and making roads. If something’s working beautifully around here – chances are, Izak built it.

Ilse-Belle (aka Belle) is Swellendam-born and the brains behind the smooth day-to-day magic. She’s our creative lead, marketer, administrator, and cabin (or campsite) crew supervisor. With 20 years of experience across aviation, hospitality, design, and marketing, she makes sure everything runs like clockwork. Her motto? “Prevention is better than cure” – and our happy campers would agree.

Together, Izak and Belle have poured their passion, skills, and love for nature into creating a truly unique camping destination – one that blends adventure, comfort, and a touch of magic.
